“Did you meet any of the real stars or did you run right after you were done?”

It seems as though even former first lady Michelle Obama isn’t immune from the occasional teasing from her mother.

The Chicago native unexpectedly appeared at the Grammys on Sunday evening, surprising millions of viewers at home – including Marian Robinson, Ms Obama’s mother.

On Tuesday, Ms Obama posted screencaps of the text exchange she had with her mother on Instagram, with the caption: “When your mom doesn’t think you’re a “real” celebrity…Tonight in Phoenix, I shared this text thread from my mom from #Grammys night, and I just had to share it with all of you. #TextsFromMom”

In one of the texts, Ms Robinson poked fun at her daughter, asking if she met any “real stars” while at the award show.

The full text exchange between Ms Obama and her mother is below:

Ms Robinson: I guess you were a hit at the Grammys

Ms Obama: I’m sitting here with Valerie and this text is so typically you. Did you watch it?!

Ms Robinson: I saw it because Gracie called me. Did you meet any of the real stars or did you run right after you were done

Ms Obama: I told you I was going to be on it

Ms Robinson: No you did not. I would have remembered that even though I don’t remember much.
Ms Obama: I thought I told you

Ms Obama: And I am a real star…by the way…

Ms Robinson: Yeah

Ms Obama: (heart emojis)
